Integrated Pest Management
Issues related to plant protection that arise during agricultural production negatively impact human and environmental health. At the same time, they lead to economic losses by reducing yield and quality. As a result, it has become essential to move beyond the conventional framework of “pest management” and adopt a more holistic approach to agriculture. This shift has driven the reduction of pesticide use and highlighted the importance of alternative and integrated pest control methods that do not rely on chemicals. To preserve this balance, ensuring the sustainability of agricultural production systems is crucial. In sustainable agriculture, effective pest control is only possible through Integrated Pest Management (IPM). As Alsera, a company operating under Alarko Agriculture Group and specializing in modern greenhouse farming, we implement IPM in our high-tech greenhouses, integrating multiple pest control strategies. Since the primary goal of this approach is to combat pests and diseases by prioritizing non-chemical solutions, IPM stands out as an environmentally responsible management system. It ensures that while pest and disease management is carried out in the most cost-effective way, any potential harm to humans, other living organisms, and the environment is either eliminated or minimized. A successful Integrated Pest Management strategy relies on a deep understanding of pests, including their biological cycles and behavioral patterns. Taking proactive preventive measures before infestations occur makes pest control significantly easier, more cost-effective, and far less harmful to the environment.
